Scaler acquires AppliedRoots for $50 million

News Synopsis

Online learning Platform AppliedRoots has been acquired by the Ed-tech company Scaler. The platform was acquired for $50 million. According to the senior executive of Scaler, the acquisition will aid Scaler in its capabilities in data science and artificial intelligence. Its Machine Learning Capabilities will also be enhanced by the acquisition. Scaler Academy raised $55 million in a funding round from Lightrock India a few months back. This is also companies third acquisition in a span of twelve months. Prior to this Coding Minutes and Coding Elements were also acquired by the Scaler Academy. Currently, the valuation of the company stands at $710 million. It was founded in the year 2017 by Anshuman Singh and Abhimanyu Saxena. Co-founder of the company, Abhimanyu Saxena said: “This acquisition will help us grow faster in the AI and ML space. We have a long runway and the capital raised will look to grow business further through organic and inorganic routes.” Co-founder of AppliedRoots, Chekuri said: “Our immediate goal will be to support the efforts and projects being done in the Data Science & ML team. We will also incorporate a separate Data Analyst Sub track within the Data Science program.” AppliedRoots offers a diploma course in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
