SBI Announces YONO 2.0 Launch on December 15
Eight years after introducing its digital banking platform YONO, State Bank of India is ready to launch YONO 2.0 on December 15.
C S Setty, chairman of SBI, said, “With YONO 2.0, we plan to drive a simple, intuitive digital journey,” adding that the platform is designed to merge security, personalisation, and scale seamlessly.
The current YONO platform serves 100 million customers, all of whom will be migrated to YONO 2.0. The upgraded version is built to accommodate double the number of users, aiming to serve 200 million customers with unmatched efficiency.
Setty also highlighted that leveraging technology allows SBI to acquire customers at one-tenth the cost of a branch, while still delivering personalised experiences at scale. Furthermore, the multilingual design ensures accessibility for India’s diverse population.
New Features of YONO 2.0
Flexibility in Banking Channels
Unlike YONO 1.0, which required customers to have net banking access, YONO 2.0 allows users to directly start using the app, removing the need to first become an internet banking customer.
Setty stated, “YONO 2.0 is designed to give customers choice, convenience, and confidence. From biometric security to multilingual access, we are ensuring that every Indian feels at home in our digital ecosystem.”
Biometric and Secure Login Options
-
iOS users can access YONO 2.0 using Face ID.
-
Android users can use biometric authentication.
-
Alternatives like MPIN and other secure login methods remain available for those who prefer them.
Technological Reinvention for a Seamless Customer Experience
Unified and Channel-Agnostic Banking
YONO 2.0 represents a complete technological reinvention, with code rewritten across net banking, YONO, and branch banking. This ensures uniform product launches and a channel-agnostic experience, allowing customers to move seamlessly between digital and physical touchpoints.
Personalised Banking through Advanced Technology
The new platform combines marketing technology with hyper-personalised services tailored to each customer’s profile. Banking services, notifications, and recommendations will now be customized based on individual preferences, making the experience more intuitive and game-changing, according to SBI’s chairman.
