News Synopsis

India is preparing for the Academy Awards in 2022. In Kolkata, a 15-member panel is filtering 14 films from across the country in order to acquire the film that will represent India at the Oscars in 2022. According to reports, Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham, starring Vicky Kaushal, and Amit V Masurkar's Sherni, starring Vidya Balan, are among the 14 films on the list.

When it comes to the Sardar Udham, the film chronicles the lesser-known narrative of the renowned Indian rebel, Sardar Udham Singh, and goes deep into his infinite heroism to revenge the deaths of his countrymen in an incident that rocked the British Empire. This film, starring Vicky Kaushal in the title role, celebrates the bravery, tenacity, and fearlessness of an unsung hero from our country's past.

Vidya Balan's Sherni, on the other hand, portrays a principled forest officer who must overcome social barriers erected by patriarchal society and lax attitudes within her department. As a forest officer, she must manage a team of hunters and locals in capturing an unsettled tigress while overcoming a slew of natural and man-made hurdles and pressures. Sharat Saxena, Mukul Chadda, Vijay Raaz, Ila Arun, and Brijendra Kala also star in the film, which received excellent reviews upon its release. The movie is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
