News Synopsis

Today, Russia has warned that the sanctions imposed on it by the countries of the Western Alliance could result in the crash of the International Space Station. Several countries around the globe have imposed these sanctions on Russia for invading its neighbor Ukraine. Head of Russian space agency Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin informed that the sanctions imposed by the western alliance could disrupt the normal operations of Russian vessels that service the International Space Station. This could eventually affect the orbit of the 500-tonne structure. This will eventually cause it to crash either on Sea or on land. International Space Station is a modular space station that orbits the lower Earth. Five space agencies of the world NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and CSA participated in this collaborative project. In a tweet, Dmitry Rogozin, the Russian space agency chief said: "If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from uncontrolled deorbiting and falling into the United States or Europe? There is also the option of dropping a 500-ton structure to India and China. Do you want to threaten them with such a prospect? The ISS does not fly over Russia, so all the risks are yours. Are you ready for them?"
