Rohit Jawa Appointed As MD CEO Of Hindustan Unilever

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) announced on Friday the appointment of Rohit Jawa as MD and CEO, succeeding Sanjiv Mehta, who would retire from the company after managing it for a decade.

Jawa, who is presently Unilever's Chief of Transformation, will take over as CEO for a five-year term beginning June 27, 2023, according to the company.

"The appointment of Rohit Jawa as a whole-time director and MD amp; CEO will be subject to the approval of Shareholders and other statutory approvals as may be applicable,"  it said.

Jawa will join the HUL Board of Directors as a full-time director on April 1, 2023. In addition to the Indian market, he will become president of Unilever South Asia.

He will become a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE) on April 1, 2023. Sanjiv Mehta will step down from his position as CEO of HUL after a transformative ten-year stint. Jawa is presently the Head of Transformation at Unilever in London, where he has successfully organized Unilever's once-in-a-decade, end-to-end change since January 2022.

Hindustan Unilever, a subsidiary of the British-Dutch conglomerate Unilever, is India's largest consumer goods marketer. The corporation offers around 30 different brands of soap, detergent, food, and other items and employs over 15,000 people, including those at its local production sites.

While Hindustan Unilever was created in 1931, its precursor had relations to Unilever dating back to the 1880s, when Lever Brothers, the ancestor of Unilever, began selling imported soap in India.
