News Synopsis

The University of Otago has found in research that it is better not to set deadlines if you want to help someone. Professor Stephen Knowles of the Department of Economics has tested the effects of having a deadline for completing a task.

A survey was held for the research in which a task was given to the participants. The deadline for the task varied from one month to not having any deadline at all. The responses for the one-month deadline were the lowest and highest for one week and no deadline tasks.

You will see people who will help others and you will see who will just keep on walking without giving a second thought. Along with this, it is also important that if we ask a partner for help, then do we give him a certain time limit. It has also been proved in research that if we expect any kind of help from any person, then we should set deadlines. Even if we give a time limit, we should keep it short, that is, keep it for a short time. Otherwise, people forget that thing or do not give it that much importance.
