News Synopsis

One of the major telecom companies in India, Jio Incorporation suffered its third-biggest subscribers' loss in the month of January this year. It lost around 9 million users in January. Prior to this, in December 2021, Jio lost 13 million subscribers. On the other hand, its strongest rival, Airtel added around 0.7 million subscribers in January. However, another telecom company, Vodafone Idea has lost around 0.4 million subscribers. Also, the overall number of mobile users declined from 1,178 million in December 2021 to 1,169 million in January 2022. Even though Jio is bleeding out of subscribers, it is still a positive thing for the telecom giant as it is actively reducing dormant and non-paying users from its network. Even though it lost around 37 million users, its active subscribers market share is continuously increasing and for the first time ever, its active subscription rate has crossed 90%.
