News Synopsis

Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani's company, has announced a collaboration with British carmaker MG Motor and Castrol, a British oil company, to extend Electric Charging Infrastructure across India. The three firms will use Castrol's existing Auto Servicing Network, giving Reliance a presence across the electric charging network, Castrol another revenue stream, and MG Motor car owners the ability to charge their vehicles.

Jio-bp and Castrol will also collaborate to expand the oil company's vehicle service network to charge four-wheeler EVs, which will almost certainly necessitate facility renovations. This will also provide Castrol with the option to service electric vehicles.

“The partnership is in line with Jio-bp and MG Motor's commitment to provide vast and reliable charging infrastructure to electric car customers and accelerating EV adoption in India,” the joint statement issued by Jio-bp and MG Motor said.

EV owners can access Jio-charging bp's network by downloading the Jio-bp pulse app. Earlier last month, Jio-bp announced a collaboration with TVS Motor to supply electric charging stations for TVS two and three wheelers. The latest electric scooter from TVS is the iQube. Jio-bp, a Reliance Industries and BP joint venture, was announced in 2020, when the Reliance-Aramco merger was still in the works.
