News Synopsis

Chipmaker Qualcomm Inc has also stopped selling its products to Russian companies following the sanctions imposed by the United States of America after Moscow invaded Ukraine.

The company's actions were announced in a tweet by Nate Tibbits, senior vice president of government affairs,  in response to comments from Ukraine's vice-Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, in which he said that Qualcomm products are still available in Russia and it "inadvertently enables this country to kill thousands of Ukrainians."

Nate Tibbits said in his reply that the company has called for a peaceful resolution to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine made direct donations to relief organisations and match employee contributions. He also said that the company comply with US sanctions and laws and are not selling products to Russian companies.

The aggression aroused the wrath of Western nations and stopped some US companies from operating in Russia, but the country described its actions in Ukraine as "special operations."

Qualcomm said at a shareholders' meeting earlier this month that revenues from Russia and Ukraine account for less than 1% of total sales.
