News Synopsis

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated India on its 75 years of independence. In a message to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Putin said India has "achieved generally recognised success" since winning its independence in a number of fields, including social, science, technology, and the economic.

In addition, Putin noted that India "by right enjoys great authority on the international scene, playing a positive role in resolving important issues on the international agenda."  The connection between India and Russia is strengthening in the "spirit of a privileged strategic cooperation," the Russian President stated, praising it.

Putin offered wishes to Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence.

Speaking on the occasion, Modi outlined India's growth and development strategy for the 25 years leading up to the country's 100th anniversary of independence in an 80-minute speech. The Indian armed forces were praised by the prime minister for supporting the idea of "Aatmanirbharta" (self-reliance).
