News Synopsis
On July 14, leaders from India, Israel, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates will meet virtually for the first I2U2 Summit, with the goal of encouraging joint investments and modernizing infrastructure. The meeting is significant in light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has resulted in significant increases in crude oil prices and inflation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet virtually with Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and US President Joe Biden. The summit takes place during Biden's visit to Israel from July 13 to 16, with stops in the West Bank and Saudi Arabia.
The leaders will discuss the situation at the summit on Thursday, according to the ministry "Possible joint projects within the framework of I2U2, as well as other areas of mutual interest to strengthen economic cooperation in trade and investment in our respective regions and beyond. These projects can serve as a model for economic cooperation while also providing opportunities for our entrepreneurs and workers." Each country also has regular Sherpa-level interactions to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
