PM Narendra Modi declares January 16 as ‘National Sports Day’

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has declared January 16 as the National Startup day. He said that the startups are going to be the backbone of new India and will have an important role as India completes 100 years of its independence.

He also said that the innovators are making India proud globally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement during an online conference where he interacted with more than 150 startups. 

The week-long event is hosted by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is also the sixth anniversary of the Startup India initiative. The Prime Minister has said that the process will be easier with access to funds and self-certification for compliance of labour and three environmental laws are continuously supporting startups and are helping to promote them.
