News Synopsis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held separate meetings with the chiefs of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. In this meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, discussion was held regarding Agnipath Scheme

First of all, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar reached the PM residence. After the meeting with the Navy Chief was over, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary met and lastly the Prime Minister met the Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pandey. Meetings were held one after the other according to seniority. Let us tell you that Admiral R Hari Kumar is the senior-most among the three army chiefs. Prime Minister Modi met the three army chiefs separately for 30 minutes.

The Agneepath Military Recruitment Scheme was announced on June 14, after which violent protests have taken place in different parts of the country and it is still going on. The youth are constantly demanding that the government should withdraw this scheme. It is worth noting that before the meeting of PM Modi, the three parts of the army, ie, the Army, Air Force and Navy, once again held a joint press conference regarding the Agneepath scheme and the recruitment process of Agniveers.
