News has emerged that as the festive season is approaching, airfare for certain routes is likely to increase by 30-40%, typically due to high demand. What is interesting in this debacle of flight rates is that till last year the flights were operating on 70% occupancy while this year, the government has cut down all such restrictions.
Apart from this, reports suggest that till last November, air traffic was 50% less than pre-covid times, while now it has increased to 70-75%. The strategic demand for flight services has also led to a staggering increase in jet fuel prices. News has emerged that jet fuel price has seen a 5.8% rise, as prices continue to rise internationally. In Delhi, the prices increased by 5.79% or Rs. 3,972, meaning Rs. 72,582.18 per kilometer.
