News Synopsis

PepsiCo India is investing an additional Rs 186 crore in the largest food manufacturing plant in Mathura to increase capacity. As part of the plan, PepsiCo India will increase capacity at the modern food factory, setting up a new production line for its nacho Doritos chip brand. With this additional investment, PepsiCo's total investment in Uttar Pradesh exceeds Rs 1,022 crore.

PepsiCo India's food manufacturing plant at Kosi Kalan, Mathura, commissioned in September 2021, was constructed at a cost of Rs 814 crore. The plant also produces Lay's brand potato chips.

“A strong backward integration program involving more than 5,000 local potato farmers is also being developed. Further, the Kosi plant has provided a source of livelihood to thousands of supply chain partners, wholesalers, and retailers,” the company said.

Coming to India in 1989, PepsiCo sells food and beverage brands such as Pepsi, Lay's, Kurkure, Tropicana, Gatorade, and Quaker. In India, PepsiCo competes with ITC and Coca-Cola.
