News Synopsis

Paytm reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 778 crore for the third quarter. The consolidated revenue from operations for the third quarter climbed 89% to Rs 1,456.1 crore from Rs 772 crore in the same quarter last year. The contribution profit improved by 31.2% of revenue in the third quarter of the current financial year.

The EBITDA margin improved to 27% of revenues in the third quarter from 63% of revenues and 39% of revenues in Q3 and Q2 FY22 respectively. Average Monthly Transacting Users, the number of unique users has grown by 37% year-on-year basis to 64.4 million in Q3 FY22.

Processing of merchant payments through all instruments of the company grew by 123% year-on-year basis. The Gross Merchandise Value for the third quarter stood at 2.5 lakh crore. The GMV from processing payments through MDR-bearing instruments grew 77%. GMV is the amount processed on a platform when a customer is making a payment to a merchant by using any instrument.
