News Synopsis

Lately, there have been some incidents where the electric two-wheelers caught fire in India. This has raised serious safety issues around these electric two-wheelers. Recently in another EV fire incident, an Okinawa Autotech dealership burnt down to ashes in Tamil Nadu. The cause of the fire is said to be a reported fire in an e-scooter belonging to the company. Prior to this incident, Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okinawa had recalled 3,215 units of its 'Praise Pro' scooters on April 16. The EV manufacturer has not yet announced any clarification regarding the latest EV fire at its dealership. Fortunately, No casualties were reported and the fire was put out with the help of locals.

This was the sixth EV fire incident since the beginning of summer this year. However, recalling 'Praise Pro' e-scooters, Okinawa Autotech had informed that this voluntary campaign is "in the wake of the recent thermal incident and in line with the company's long-standing commitment to customer safety". The company further said: "The batteries will be checked for loose connectors or any damage and be repaired free of charge at any of the Okinawa authorized dealerships pan India.” According to the company, this recall has been initiated to fix "any issue" regarding with the vehicles batteries.
