News Synopsis

Leading stock exchange NSE has started the search for a new chief executive officer and managing director as incumbent boss Vikram Limaye's five-year term coming to an end in July.

According to a public notice released on Friday, the exchange has invited applications from candidates with IPO (initial public offering) experience to the top post role by March 25.

Vikram Limaye was appointed head of NSE  in July 2017 after Chitra Ramkrishna, a former executive director and CEO of the exchange resigned. In addition to various claims, various questions have been asked about why the application was not submitted when Ramkrishna was appointed  MD and CEO in 2013.

The NSE notice details the eligibility criteria and states that candidates need a track record of strengthening corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and compliance management framework.

In addition, candidates who have worked for public companies or who have led the organization through an IPO will have additional benefits.

The candidates will be shortlisted by the nominations and remuneration committee of the company after the deadline. A selection committee comprising NRC members and the independent external members is set up by the NSE. The committee will recommend candidates to the board and will send the name to SEBI for final approval.
