News Synopsis

A New Chapter for Renault's Duster, Renault's sister brand, Dacia, is all set to unveil the all-new Duster SUV with a global debut scheduled for November 29 in Portugal. While this exciting launch is on the horizon, Indian car enthusiasts can look forward to the arrival of the new Duster under the Renault brand. The expected timeline for its launch in India is by 2025.

Three Engine Choices for Enhanced Performance

The revamped Duster is coming with a revamped powertrain. It will feature three petrol engine options, catering to diverse driver preferences. These include an entry-level engine generating 120hp, a punchy 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine boasting 140hp, and a 170hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine with flex-fuel capabilities. Notably, the 170 hp turbo-petrol engine will make this Duster the most powerful one ever introduced.

The new Duster will come with three petrol engine options:

  • A 120hp entry-level engine

  • A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 140hp

  • A 170hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that can operate on flex-fuel

The 170hp turbo-petrol engine will make the new Duster the most powerful Duster ever to go on sale.

The new Duster will also get a new, more rugged and imposing design, with a boxy design language and construction on Renault-Nissan's CMF-B modular platform.

In addition to the five-seater Duster, Renault is also planning to launch a seven-seater version of the vehicle, called the "Bigster". The Bigster is expected to be launched globally next year.

Bold New Design Language

The new Duster is not just about power; it's making a statement with its design. Spy shots have revealed a rugged and boxy design language that sets it apart from its predecessor. This bolder aesthetic gives the Duster a commanding presence on the road. It's built on the versatile Renault-Nissan CMF-B modular platform, promising a modern driving experience.

Expanding the Lineup with the Bigster

Renault's ambition doesn't stop at the five-seater Duster. In the pipeline is a seven-seater version known as the "Bigster." This larger variant is expected to be launched globally in the near future, extending the Duster family to cater to a wider range of customers.

Renault Duster's Journey in India

The Duster left an indelible mark when it was first launched in India on July 4, 2012. It introduced the country to the midsize SUV segment, making it the first in its class.

However, the Indian SUV market has witnessed significant evolution in the past decade. In this context, the new Duster, set to debut by 2025, will face fierce competition from established rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq, among others.

Conquering a Competitive Segment

The Indian midsize SUV market has evolved into a highly competitive arena, with numerous strong contenders. The success of the new Duster will depend on its ability to surpass formidable competitors, making its impending launch an exciting chapter in the Indian SUV market.
