New Hyundai Venue Poised to Challenge Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The compact SUV market is led by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Although the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet are part of this segment, they haven't matched the sales success of the top three.

However, a new contender has entered the fray: the Mahindra XUV 3XO. This model has quickly gained traction, surpassing the Korean duo in May.

Mahindra XUV 3XO's Ambitions

Launched on April 29, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is aiming for a dominant position in the compact SUV market, which recorded nearly 25 lakh units in FY24.

Mahindra estimates that the XUV 3XO can compete in a segment that ranges from 6 lakh to 9 lakh units per year, depending on the models included. Mahindra is currently the fifth-ranked player in the 6 lakh units target market and sixth in the 9 lakh units market.

Sales Performance in May

In May, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the best-selling compact SUV with 14,186 units sold. Its counterpart, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, followed closely with 12,681 units. The Tata Nexon secured the third spot with 11,457 units.

The newly launched Mahindra XUV 3XO had an impressive start, recording sales of 10,510 units in its debut month. This performance put it ahead of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, which sold 9,327 units and 7,433 units respectively.
