Next Games plans to develop games based on popular entertainment IP, like Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales, which is a story-driven puzzle and a role-playing game inspired by one of the most-watched series on Netflix

It reported sales of around 27.2 million euros in 2020 and 95% of revenues were generated from in-game purchases. Michael Verdu, Vice President of Games, Netflix has said that Next Games has a seasoned management team, a strong track record with mobile games based on entertainment franchises, and solid operational capabilities.

He further said that he is confident that together with Next Games, Netflix will be able to build up a world-class games portfolio that will delight the members all around the world.

Next Games was founded by Teemu Huuhtanen in 2013. It creates and operates engaging mobile games with global appeal and an authentic and social fan experience at its core.

This is not the first time when Netflix has acquired a game developer company. Prior to Next Games, it acquires the video game creator Night School Studio for an undisclosed amount. It also released five mobile gaming titles in some of the selected European markets. The gaming services are available on both Android and iOS devices.
