News Synopsis

Big news related to National Cinema Day is coming out. The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) announced on September 13 that the National Cinema Day celebrations would be moved from September 16 to September 23. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer film Brahmastra is reportedly being told behind this. The Multiplex Association of India itself has announced the change in the date of Cinema Day. It has been told that instead of Friday, 16 September, this day will be celebrated on 23 September, on which day movie tickets will be sold in thousands of cinemas across the country with tremendous discounts for just Rs 75.

According to MAI, National Cinema Day has been postponed by a week and will now be celebrated on Friday, 23 September. The association says that the reason behind the extension of the date is the requests of various stakeholders and increasing the opportunity to participate. Whereas, Bollywood Hungama has informed, citing a source, that the reason behind the postponement of the date is the film Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, which is growing towards tremendous earnings in the country.

The report claimed that the fantasy film is doing well after several Bollywood films crashed at the box office, leaving multiplexes happy after a long time and that's why Disney's request was made. Later, MAI extended National Cinema Day.

The MAI shared an official statement on Twitter, captioning it, "The National Cinema Day was previously announced to be held on 16th September, however, on request from various stakeholders and in order to maximize participation, it would now be held on 23rd September #NationalCinemaDay2022 #Sep23."
