Musk Hints Layoffs at Twitter in Future

Tech Billionaire Elon Musk told Twitter employees that the platform needs to be economically "healthy" and reduce costs, hinting that the going on jobs cuts may continue if his deal to acquire the social media platform takes place.

When asked about the possibility of a layoff during an internal Q&A session, Musk quoted an employee as saying, "Currently, costs outweigh revenue,"  The Verge reported. "It's not a great situation," he added.

At a previous meeting, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal told employees that layoffs weren't planned "at this time." Musk does not specifically state whether there will be headcount reductions, but his comments suggest high odds.

However, prefers to work directly and made it clear to the manager that remote workers were actively contributing to the company. The answer came during a full-scale virtual meeting with Twitter employees. There, Tesla's CEO spoke to the workers for the first time, answering pre-submitted questions read by Twitter executives.
