Mukesh Ambani Reclaims Title of India’s Richest, Gautam Adani Second; First Woman Enters Top 3

Billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani has once again overtaken Gautam Adani to become India’s richest person. According to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, the 68-year-old Reliance Industries Chairman tops the list with a net worth of ₹9.55 lakh crore ($105 billion). In comparison, the 63-year-old Adani and his family hold ₹8.15 lakh crore, placing them second.
India’s Top 10 Billionaires
The 2025 edition of the list highlights the growth of India’s billionaire community. The country now has over 350 billionaires, six times more than when the list was first published 13 years ago. A total of 1,687 individuals have assets exceeding ₹1,000 crore. 284 newcomers joined the list this year.
The combined wealth of all listed billionaires stands at ₹167 lakh crore, a 5% increase from the previous year. This amount exceeds the GDP of Spain and accounts for about half of India’s GDP.
First Woman in the Top 3
For the first time in the history of the list, a woman has made it to the top three. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, 44, and her family secured the third spot with ₹2.84 lakh crore in net worth. She is not only India’s richest woman but also the youngest woman in the top 10.
New Billionaires Emerging Weekly
Over the past two years, India has witnessed an average of one new billionaire every week. According to the report, India’s wealthiest individuals have been accumulating assets at a rate of ₹1,991 crore per day. The Bajaj family, led by Neeraj Bajaj, saw the highest gains, with their wealth increasing by ₹69,875 crore to ₹2.33 lakh crore, moving them to the sixth spot on the list.
Shah Rukh Khan Joins the List; Youngest Billionaires
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has entered the billionaire club for the first time, with a net worth of ₹12,490 crore. Among the youngest billionaires, Arvind Srinivas, 31, founder of Perplexity, made the list with ₹21,190 crore.
Other young entrants include Cavelya Vohra (22) and Adit Palicha (23), co-founders of Zepto. Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of Paytm, also rejoined the billionaire list after a significant increase in the company’s share price, with his net worth reaching ₹15,930 crore.
Mumbai Leads in Billionaire Count
In terms of numbers, Mumbai tops the list with 451 billionaires, followed by New Delhi (223) and Bengaluru (116). Women have made a notable impact this year, with 101 women featuring on the list. The average age of billionaires is 65 years, equal for both men and women. Interestingly, 20 individuals born in the 1990s are now part of this exclusive club.
