News Synopsis

Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj announced her retirement from all formats of international cricket. She gave this information by tweeting. Mithali has thanked everyone for their love and support. She wrote that she would focus on her second innings. However, she has not revealed what this second innings will be.

Mithali Raj is the most capped player in the history of women's cricket, the highest scorer, and the most skilled female captain in India, and encourages many young girls to start taking up the game.

After making his debut in 1999 at the age of 16, Mithali played 12 tests, 232 ODIs, and 89 T20I. She aggregated a total of 10,868 runs in 333 international matches. The 39-year-old hit 7,805 runs on an average of 50.7 in ODI, set a world record, and led India to 89 wins in 155 ODI. This is the highest number for any women captain.

She is the only Indian captain who led the team in two 50-over World Cup finals. However, the 39-year-old woman retired without a trophy.
