News Synopsis

In Windows 11, Microsoft introduced a new tool called "Gallery" to File Explorer to make it easier for users to view their photo collections.  "We are introducing Gallery, a new feature in File Explorer designed to make it easy to access your photo collection.

The set of content shown in Gallery is the same as what you'll see in the All Photos view in the Photos app," according to a blog post from Microsoft.

The Gallery view was added in the most recent Windows Insider Build 23435 and is easily accessed from the File Explorer's navigation panel. Additionally, according to the company, images taken by users will automatically appear at the top of the screen if users have OneDrive Camera Roll Backup configured on their phones.

Through the Collection option, users can select which folders should be displayed in the Gallery. They may also add subfolders of already-existing sources to focus on a specific portion of your content, including desktop backdrops and imports from SD cards or cameras.

The tech giant aims to monitor comments before sending out the functionality to everyone, thus it is presently being tested with a small group of testers and is not yet available to all Insiders on the Dev Channel.

Microsoft has also revealed that it will be significantly altering how Windows manages which applications open particular files by default and how users may add programmes to their Start menus on the taskbar and desktop.

When developers wish to modify how Windows 11 responds to particular links and file types, the tech giant will create a new deep link "uniform resource identifier" (URI) that enables them to direct users to the appropriate menu item in the Settings menu.

The company recently announced a number of new features coming in the next few weeks, including AI Image Creator, Drop, Image Editor, and changes for Efficiency mode to improve battery life. Microsoft has been heavily investing in making its Microsoft Edge browser the best browsing experience for Windows 11, macOS, Linux, and mobile users.

Other features being developed by the software behemoth include Edge Workspaces, Grouping Similar Tabs, Blocking Autoplay Videos, Browser Essentials, Split Screen, Super Video Resolution, and Visual releases, all of which are anticipated to appear in next browser releases.
