News Synopsis

Mercedes-Benz has announced the long-distance concept car "Vision EQXX", which has traveled more than 1,000km with a fully charged battery, which is the longest mileage ever, as the strongest challenge of Elon Musk in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

According to the automaker, the journey from Germany to southern France began in cold and rainy conditions and took place at normal road speeds, including longer high-speed lane cruises up to 140 km/hour.

According to the company, the concept of lightweight construction of Vision EQXX ranges from the materials used to the innovative bionic structure that guarantees a good power-to-weight ratio.

Passive cooling is sufficient while on the move, as the electric drivetrain is so efficient that it produces very little waste heat, according to the car manufacturer.

The company plans to go fully electric by 2030, with a target of half of its global sales to comprise plug-in hybrids and EVs by 2025. Its lineup will have nine models by the end of the year, along with electrified versions of its E Class and B Class vehicles.
