News Synopsis

Meesho, a SoftBank-backed e-commerce company, has launched an integrated mobile e-commerce app for Android users. Meesho is India's first Indian e-commerce company to release an integrated mobile app for both buyers and sellers. The purpose is to further support the digitisation of domestic SMEs.

With the latest version of the app, users can now switch between the interfaces of buyer and seller, just with a single click. It would provide sellers with a superior e-commerce experience with access to multiple features on the app, which were available on the web version only.

These include order processing, payment tracking, inventory management and seller support. It would provide new supporting features like uploading pictures of the product catalogues, creating and placing advertisements along with complete access to price and product recommendation tools of Meesho, which will also be added to the application. The e-commerce platform claims that the unified app and its features will help more than 4 lakh sellers on the platform to be successful online.

Meesho said that it has consistently introduced a slew of initiatives to ease the digitisation process for sellers across the country in the last few years. The latest integrated Android application of Meesho is easy to understand and use, helping sellers to realise how digital transition is simple and efficient.

Earlier this month, Meesho announced two new initiatives for sellers, the industry's first "zero penalty" and "7-day payments." The former guarantees that sellers will not be penalized for self or auto-cancellation of orders,  the latter guarantees that sellers will be paid sooner, which helps them return money to their business.
