News Synopsis

McDonald's has filed for a trademark to set up a location in the metaverse. McDonald's is claiming to deliver food in person and online and McCafe. The trademark filed by the food-restaurant chain shows that they for “virtual food and beverages products.”

Another report describes it as operating a virtual restaurant online featuring home delivery. Other brands offshoots like entertainment and events using the company’s name have also been trademarked and include ‘online actual and virtual concerts.’

Trademark Lawyer, Josh Gerben has shared the description of the trademark saying that users will not have put down the headset. They can simply walk into a McDonald’s and place an order, it will be delivered to your doorstep a little later.

It will take around eight months for the trademark to get approval from the US Patent and Trademark Office. The trademark lawyer also claimed that it is possible to see every brand that one can think of making these filings within the next 12 months.

Meta has already opened up its metaverse world and Microsoft is also planning to open up a metaverse version of its Team apps soon.
