Man In US Consumes 17 Ghost Peppers In One Minute, Breaks Guinness World Record

Recently, a man naming Gregory Foster from the United States made the Guinness World Record by consuming 17 ghost peppers in 60 seconds. Foster, who is from California, set the record after consuming 17 Bhut Jolokia chilli peppers in 60 seconds, claims Guinness World Records (GWR). According to a press release, he broke the record in San Diego in November 2021, but he was only recognised formally on Monday.

According to the GWR, one million Scoville Intensity Units—a unit used to quantify the heat of chilli peppers and other spicy foods—make Bhut Jolokia chilli peppers one of the hottest peppers in the world. This indicates that Foster ingested about 17 million Scoville Heat Units in a single minute.

Foster has always enjoyed spicy food and even plants his own peppers at home, according to the news release. He has spent decades raising his threshold for spicy food, which is why he can now tolerate the world's hottest peppers. "The only goal of this attempt was to add another Guinness World Record to my already existing ones. I enjoy eating chilli and challenging myself, he continued.
