News Synopsis

According to Kavinder Singh, the Managing Director and CEO of the firm, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd (MHRIL) intends to invest up to Rs 4,500 crore in the next three to four years to quadruple its room capacity to 10,000.

In order to meet its goal of increasing the number of rooms from 5,000 to 10,000 by FY30, the firm is aggressively seeking collaborations with state governments in addition to opening new resorts and expanding its current properties through transactions.

"We have all of the methods available to move from 5,000 to 10,000 rooms. We have made great progress,"

Approximately Rs 835 crore of investment is now being made for five acquisition, brownfield, and greenfield projects totaling over 690 keys.

Since approximately 5,000 keys must be delivered by 2030, he expressed confidence that the investment would be increased to at least Rs 2,000 crore in the next year and that it would be escalated to Rs 4,000–4,500 crore in three to four years.

According to Kavinder Singh, the corporation is prioritizing public-private partnerships (PPP) in addition to greenfield, brownfield, and acquisitions as part of its expansion plan.

Our government in Uttarakhand has already partnered with us, and we have identified two plots of land for an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Additionally, we have an MoU for an investment of around Rs 800 crore with the Tamil Nadu government inked,"

Over the next five to six years, the business plans to construct three greenfield resorts in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 800 crore. This would be MHRIL's second-biggest investment, after the Rs 1,000 crore it made in Uttarakhand the previous year.
