News Synopsis

Lead School has become the second startup to enter the Unicorn Club this year after it raised $100 million in its latest funding round led by WestBridge Capital along with the participation from GSV Ventures. The valuation of the company reached $1.1 billion after the funding round. 

Lead School has also become the sixth ed-tech startup to cross a billion valuation after Byju’s, Unacademy, Eruditus, UpGrad, and Vedantu. It was founded in 2012 by Sumeet Mehta and Smita Deorah. 

Lead School offers integrated curriculum and technology solutions to the private schools that provide them with an advanced education with an online and hybrid model. It claims to integrate the platform to help the children from low-income families to get the books and other resources from vendors directly and remove the middleman.

Lead School currently works with more than 5,000 schools in 500 cities of India and aims to reach 2 million students by the end of 2023.
