Automaker Kia India announced that it has started bookings for its first electric car EV6. The EV6 is based on the electric global modular platform (EGMP), a dedicated EV platform, marking the beginning of Kia's EV journey in India.

Only 100 EV6 units, offered as fully built units will be sold in India this year. The imported model will be released in the country next week. The EV6 is available exclusively at an iconic price of Rs 3 lakh at 15 carefully selected dealers in 12 cities. Customers can also book from the Kia India website, the statement said.

Kia India Managing Director and CEO Tae-Jin Park said, “The Indian automotive industry is transforming and Kia is at the forefront of this transformation. Time and again, we have proven it through our world-class products and services that cater not just to the unmet but also the unfelt needs of Indians. The introduction of EV6 in the country reiterates the same.”

With one full charge, the car can travel up to 528 km and sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The car can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kWh charger.

It is equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD)system, a panoramic sunroof, multiple driving modes, forward collision avoidance assistance, lane departure warning, and over 60 connectivity features.
