JLR Sales Declined by 36% in Q4

News Synopsis

On Friday, Tata Motors-owned, Jaguar Landrover (JLR) announced that due to the shortage of semiconductors, its sales declined by 36 percent in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year when compared to the same quarter a year ago. It sold 79,008 units in the fourth quarter of the 2021-22 fiscal. The automobile company said that the semiconductor shortage was the major reason behind the loss in sales in the quarter.

However, the company informed that they witnessed a slight improvement in chip supply which led to improved production of the company. The company is optimistic about the improved production and sales in the future. Jaguar sales for the period under review stood at 14,574 units, down 38 percent from the year-ago period. Land Rovers sales declined by 36 percent to 64,434 units year on year basis.

The automobile manufacturer further told that the retail sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, were 3,76,381 units, The yearly sales declined by 14 percent if compared to the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021, JLR further informed that there are currently, 45,500 orders of Range Rover and 40,000 order of New Defender.
