News Synopsis

Jet Airways is licensed by the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to resume commercial flights. The air operator certificate (AOC) was awarded to the airline after two test flights. The aircraft must complete a total of 5 landings (5 flights) to complete the test flights. With DGCA personnel on board, the airline successfully completed five test flights on May 15th and 17th.

The airline started operating in 2019 after the promoters of the airline failed to provide liquidity and the resolution process started for the airline in June 2019. The old avatar airline is owned by Naresh Goyal and operated its last flight on April 17, 2019. The Jalan Kalrock Consortium is currently a promoter of Jet Airways. It plans to resume the commercial flights in July-September (third quarter) of this year.

The airline's Committee of Creditors (CoC) approved the resolution plan which was submitted by the consortium of the UK’s Kalrock Capital and the UAE-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan in October 2020.
