News Synopsis

According to an official document, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a security clearance to Jet Airways and the airline is planning to resume commercial flight operations in the coming months.

The Jalan-Kalrock Consortium is currently a promoter of Jet Airways. The airline in its old avatar was owned by Naresh Goyal and operated its last flight on April 17, 2019. The airline conducted its test flight to and from Hyderabad airport last Thursday, in order to get the air operator certificate

A letter from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to the airline dated May 6 announced the security clearance granted by the Union home ministry. A test flight was conducted last Thursday to prove to aviation regulator DGCA that the aircraft and its components are working properly.

After Thursday's test flight, the airline will need to carry out proving flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will then issue the air operator certificate to the airline. Proving flights are similar to commercial flights with DGCA officers and cabin crew on board as passengers and flight attendants.
