News Synopsis

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet as a non-fungible token (NFT) last year. But the tweet that was once $2.9 million has had a grim future.

Sina Estavi, the Iranian crypto entrepreneur who bought the NFT last year for $2.9 million put it up for auction. He expected that the value of the tweet world have been appreciated to $25 million and was planning to donate half of the sale amount. However, the tweet got only seven bids from buyers, with the highest bid being only $280 dollars.

According to OpenSae’s rules, Estavi can choose to accept the price and sell the NFT. However, Estavi has said that he is not planning to sell the NFT, but as per the rules, he still has two days to accept the tweet before the bid expires.

Last year's Dorsey NFT sale made the headlines for being one of the most expensive NFT sales in history. Many users have entered the NFT market with the sale of the first tweet while overshadowing the sale of works by digital artists such as Beeple. It can even be claimed that it has given the NFT market the confidence that it has today.
