News Synopsis

The long-awaited and ambitious moon missions Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya L1 are being prepared for flight by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) by 2023.

If successful, this mission will serve as a test for the second moon landing effort by the Indian space agency and open the way for extraterrestrial missions. Somanath S, Secretary DOS and Chairman ISRO, stated, "We are hoping to finish the mission in the beginning of 2023. The Chandrayaan-3 mission is in the planning stages. To confirm the design's durability, it is currently undergoing a phase with numerous crucial tests, he informed.

The ISRO Chairman stated that even though there was no coordination on this mission with other agencies of private enterprises, several private companies helped to manufacture the mission's subsystems. Somanath S, Chairman ISRO, provided an update on the Aditya L1 mission's launch, saying, "The spacecraft is currently being integrated. Testing and integration are being done on an important payload. The entire spaceship has yet to be built and tested. The start of 2023 is when the launch is currently scheduled.

This is the follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2, was launched in July 2019 on India's most potent geosynchronous launch vehicle, the GSLV-Mk 3. The mission's goal was to land a rover on the lunar South Pole. However, the lander "Vikram" crashed during the mission rather than making a controlled landing, which prevented the rover "Pragyaan" from successfully exploring the moon's surface
