iPhone shipments grow 48% in India in 2021

News Synopsis

Apple has recorded a growth pg 48 percent in its iPhone shipments in India in 2021. According to Gurugram based market research firm CMR, it recorded 5.4 million iPhones to India last year and 2.2 million in the festive quarter alone.

The report includes that the company registered market gains on the back of an increased share of domestic manufacturing, aggressive retail initiatives and robust consumer demand through all-important festive sales. It also managed and diversified the supply chain throughout the pandemic. 

The iPhone 12 was the most sought-after model in the fourth quarter in India followed by iPhone 11, SE, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max models. Currently, iPhone 13 is being manufactured at the Foxconn plant in Chennai on a trial basis and will be available in the market soon. 

Apple is currently ramping up the production of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other devices in India and Vietnam in order to end its dependence on China for the assembling of its devices.
