Indian Oil and Tesla Power USA have partnered to sell batteries in India

A Strategic Partnership for the Distribution and Sale of Batteries has been formed between Tesla Power USA and Indian Oil Corp Ltd.

The partnership will enable Tesla Power USA batteries to potentially sell and service their batteries at over 36,000 IOCL petrol pumps across India, providing unmatched availability and convenience to purchase and service automotive batteries," the business stated in a statement.

This will be IOCL's first national partnership for the distribution of batteries. Tesla Power batteries are going to start appearing at the IOCL petrol pumps in the Delhi-NCR region and eventually will be made available in other states.

According to Vigyan Kumar Executive Director, I/C (RS-NE), IOCL, "Stressed on placing battery at ROs under TBA (Tyre Battery Accessories) concept, wherein it has to be highlighted in customer mindset that IOC fuel station is the correct place to go for any urgent or regular battery replacement / new purchase requirement."

Customers could benefit a lot from the TBA idea of installing batteries near gas stations, including the simplicity of buying a new battery or replacement along with refueling their automobile, saving them time and effort. Additionally, having a variety of battery alternatives at their disposal may make it simpler for clients to locate the ideal battery type for their vehicle and spare them the trouble of having to go elsewhere.

If this agreement is a success, the TBA idea will be gradually replicated across all of India, making it simpler for users to get easy, dependable access to battery-related services.

The country's battery industry will expand at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 25% from 2021 to 2026, according to the India Energy Storage Alliance. Fuel pumps need to be ready for the shift because the EV Industry is developing at an outstanding CAGR of 49%. Around 1 million EV Scooters alone will be on Indian roads by 2030. To serve all car segments, Tesla Power USA provides both lead-acid and lithium batteries, he continued.

Customers will receive a free fire extinguisher worth 600 rupees with every purchase of four-wheeler batteries and a gift worth 250 rupees with every purchase of two-wheeler batteries as part of this new collaboration, and the items will be prominently displayed at the IOCL Gasoline Pumps.

By giving a free tool kit and training to all designated personnel at the gasoline pump, Tesla Power is also taking extra care with after-sales service, ensuring that dealers are prepared and well-informed to provide service to consumers.
