The Telangana state government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Elest, based in Karnataka, for a manufacturing unit of next-generation displays for smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Founded by sponsors of Fortune 500 global company Rajesh Exports, Elest will build a Display FAB through technological collaboration and input from the world's most advanced and premier research centers, according to a press release.

Telangana IT Minister further said that the display fab in Telangana would put India on a global map at par with selected countries including China, the USA, and Japan. The display factory will be built under the Indian Semiconductor Mission Program of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology by the Government of India.
