News Synopsis

India not only holds the place for the 2nd most populated country but it is also the seventh-largest country on earth, which implies that the influence it has on the world is huge. And when it comes to climate change and carbon restriction, its take on them is slightly opposite of what you will expect. While the world is taking measures to lower carbon emissions, India advocates its climatic condition. In fact, the government has ordered to increase coal production post-pandemic. Environment Minister of India, Bhupender Yadav claims that India ranks high in the independent investigation on climate actions taken by the government. He goes on to say, India doesn’t need to cut its carbon emission like developed countries, because it is still developing and fighting against poverty.

Climate change is currently the most important issue in the world and will go on to becomes even more crucial. And if the facts stated by our climate ministers stand true it should focus on at least reaching sustainable development goals, if not zero carbon emission, for now. But sooner or later, we will have to put a stoppage on carbon emission, having numerous cities of our nation topping the list of highly polluted cities across the world.
