News Synopsis

Importers can now anonymously file complaints about delays in bill of entry (BE) clearance under faceless assessment, which will result in faster clearance of goods. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued an advisory for Anonymised Escalation Mechanism under faceless assessment, urging them to resolve their grievances as soon as possible.

BE is a legal document filed by importers or customs clearance agents before or on the day that imported goods arrive. It is handed over to the Customs authority for clearance. "The delay in clearance would subsequently be escalated to the concerned Faceless Assessment Officers," the advisory said.
It also stated that the service will allow users to track the status of grievances they have filed until they are resolved. To use the Anonymised Escalation Mechanism, registered users must contact the ICEGATE Helpdesk team at the toll-free number 1800-3010-1000.

They can track the status of their complaint by providing their ICEGATE ID or Bill of Entry details, such as BE number, BE date, and port code, or by providing their grievance number.
