News Synopsis

Hyundai India has announced a partnership with Tata Power to improve the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles (EVs) and provide EV customers with a complete home charging solution.

Currently, the existing network of 34 electric vehicle dealers in 29 cities in modern India has a 7.2kWh AC charger. Therefore, in order to reduce charging time and serve additional customers, automakers are planning to install 60kWh DC quick chargers at existing EV dealers.

In particular, all of these charging stations will be operated by Tata Power and will be open to all EV owners accessible via Hyundai and Tata Power's own charging apps. Hyundai will also provide home charging solutions to all EV customers as part of this partnership.

Hyundai currently offers only the Kona Electric India, launched in 2019, but as part of its Beyond Mobility strategy, it has confirmed the launch of the all-electric Ioniq 5 in late 2022. In addition, the company has begun electrical remodeling of Kona this year as well, developing a mass market for electric vehicles to be launched in 2024.
