News Synopsis

In a strategic move, Hyundai has expanded its i20 lineup in India with the introduction of the new Sportz (O) trim, enhancing the popular hatchback with an array of additional features. While maintaining the sleek design of the standard Sportz variant, the Sportz (O) brings a touch of luxury and enhanced convenience to the mid-range segment.

Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) Features Unveiled

The newly introduced Sportz (O) variant bears a resemblance to its predecessor, launched in September 2023, yet it stands out with some notable upgrades. A key distinguishing feature is the inclusion of a single-pane sunroof, a luxury element previously reserved for the higher Asta and Asta (O) variants. Despite a Rs 35,000 price difference from the Sportz trim, the Sportz (O) promises to deliver a compelling package with its additional features.

Exploring Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) Feature Upgrades

The Sportz (O) trim elevates the i20 experience with the incorporation of a single-pane sunroof, adding a touch of sophistication to the mid-range variant. Further enhancing convenience, it introduces a wireless charger and features faux leather finish on the armrests, contributing to an upgraded interior aesthetic. Retaining popular elements from the Sportz variant, including a height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, and a rear parking camera, the Sportz (O) ensures a well-rounded driving experience.

Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) Powertrain Specifications

Under the hood, the Sportz (O) is equipped with the reliable 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. Notably, this variant is exclusively available with a 5-speed manual transmission, providing a power output of 83hp for a smooth and efficient driving experience. Safety remains a top priority, with the inclusion of features such as six airbags, ABS, EBD, hill-start assist, ESC, and Vehicle Stability Management Control.

While riding on 16-inch steel wheels, the Sportz (O) features a sound system with front and rear speakers, including front tweeters. It departs from the premium Bose sound system found in higher variants.

Competitive Pricing and Segment Standings:

The Sportz (O) starts at Rs 8.73 lakh (ex-showroom) for monotone paint, making it a compelling option against its rivals. Dual-tone variants carry a slightly higher price tag of Rs 8.88 lakh. In the premium hatchback segment, the i20 Sportz (O) faces competition from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz. While the Altroz offers a unique turbo-petrol option, the i20 N Line caters to performance enthusiasts with its exclusive 120hp turbo-petrol engine.

Competition in the Premium Hatchback Segment

Competing in the premium hatchback segment, the Hyundai i20 facelift enters a fierce market, facing off against popular models like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and the Tata Altroz. Notably, the Altroz distinguishes itself by offering a turbo-petrol engine option, setting it apart in the lineup. On the other hand, the i20 N Line caters to performance enthusiasts with its exclusive 120hp turbo-petrol engine, adding a dynamic option to the array.
