Huawei Tech Promotes Meng Wanzhou to a Top Leadership Post

Huawei Technologies Co. has promoted CFO Meng Wanzhou to one of the top leadership positions of tech giants. This is the latest sign of attention six months after the contract with the United States, which was released from detention in Canada.

The company named Ms Meng one of three senior executives known internally as rotating chairman, according to an update from the company. In the role, the three executives will take six month turns as the top leader of the company, with duties including running meetings of the company’s board of directors and executive committee.

This role is a feature of a rare corporate organisation of a privately held company, distributing authority to senior groups of long-standing executives who oversee the company along with Ren Zhengfei, the founder and the CEO of the company who also holds veto power but less of a role in daily operations of the company.

Meng, according to the company, was named after the voting of the company shareholders responsible for the approval of Huawei's board of directors. Huawei Spokeswoman confirmed that the new position of Ms Meng along with the other board changes disclosed on Friday.
