GST Collection Stood at Rs 1.38 Lakh Crore in January

News Synopsis

The total collection of Goods and Services Tax was Rs 1.38 lakh in January 2022. The Government of India has raised Rs 1,38,394 crore under Gross GST Revenue for January 2022. 

This is the fourth time in a row when GST collection exceeded Rs 1.30 lakh. The estimates were released on January 31 by the Ministry of Finance. Earlier, in September 2021, the Centre's GST collection was less than Rs 1.30 lakh crore, when the gross revenue was Rs 1.17 lakh crore. 

The Government of India recorded the highest monthly GST collection of Rs 1.39 lakh crore in April 2021. The Finance Ministry said, "Economic recovery, activities related to preventing tax evasion, especially action against those who make fake bills, have contributed a lot in increasing GST."
