Google India appoints Archana Gulati as Policy Head

The Indian arm of the United States-based tech giant Google- Google India

has appointed Archana Gulati as the head of public policy in India. Before being appointed as the Policy Head at Google India, she had earlier served as the former joint secretary at the Government of India’s think tank Niti Aayog.

A Google spokesperson has confirmed the appointment of Archana Gulati. Before taking voluntary retirement in April 2021, Gulati was looking after digital communications policy matters at the government think tank Niti Aayog. Prior to that, she was an officer on special duty in the telecom secretary office from May 2017 to August 2019.

Other than this, she also led the combinations division at the Competition Commission of India and advised the commission on competition issues emerging from mergers and acquisitions.

Archan Gulati between May 2007 to February 2012, was the joint administrator in the finance division at the telecom ministry's Universal Services Obligation Fund of India. There she looked after the financial aspects of the design and implementation of USOF schemes as well as subsidy disbursement during that time.
