News Synopsis

Food delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato are required to provide nutritional information, allergen information, and ingredient information for all dishes on the menu of the website from July 1st, according to FSSAI regulations.

In a letter to all e-commerce food business operators (FBOs), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked to make arrangements to display the above information on platforms, including mobile apps.

E-commerce food business operators need to get the information they need from their restaurants and make it available on their website as needed. Details must be provided by a centrally licensed catering facility or outlet in at least 10 locations.

In the order, FSSAI referred to the provisions of "Display of Information at Food Service Facilities Based on FSS Regulation (Labelling and Display) 2O2O", which will come into effect on 1 July  2022.

In its letter, FSSAI advised regional directors to ensure compliance with the e-commerce FBO. Swiggy, Zomato, and others also have some other restrictions to worry about, as the government recently ordered the e-commerce FBO to show consumers the resolution of all charges included in the order amount.
