News Synopsis

Alitalia Airlines was the national airline of Italy. However, from this week onwards this title has been given to a new airline called ITA. Since declaring bankruptcy in 2017, things haven't been great for Alitalia but still, the airline company was functioning. However, from October 15, Alitalia completely stopped its operation. Instead, ITA will take its place as Italy's new national airline. ITA has even bought 52 planes from Alitalia but things become murky when it comes to acquiring Alitalia's flight attendants. This came as a surprise to Alitalia's flight attendants and they have been constantly protesting against the job losses and pay cuts for quite some time.

In an interesting incident, Alitalia's ex-flight attendants took to roads to protest in a very unique way. The flight attendants strip off their clothes and stood in their undergarments, chanting slogans "We are Alitalia". This was done to show how unfair Alitalia has been to its employees. Some even said that apart from a pay cut and loss of jobs, those who have managed to retain their jobs have lost their seniority. No longer are they informed of basic things.

The pandemic has been a rough time for many, especially for flight attendants since countries were sealed. This resulted in huge pay cuts and job losses. As if that wasn't enough, now flight attendants have to face crude behavior from their employers. Time will only tell if the demands of these flight attendants will be met or not.
